New album realease: Mellow Station!!!
Straight from the shoulder, no frills, no extraneous nonessentials. That’s what the ten tracks of Mellow Station are like, an exercise of selfless musical sincerity with which Borja Olalla and Quim Roca, these homegrown cowboys from Catalonia, treat our ears.
The directive was clear: a ribbon microphone, old-school style, only two takes per track—do or die; what you play is what you get, just like in primitive blues. Guitar, voice, and harmonica—and if you blow it, keep your whining to yourself.
Listening to Mellow Station transports us ipso facto to a twilight Western world, to the sound of a light trot, fading away beyond the horizon. Keep in mind, however, that on this journey, Borja Olalla, singer and guitarist, a great lover of country music and the composer of these ten desert pearls, plays no covers. That’s the last thing we need! All the tracks are original and, needless to say, could be played anytime, no passport needed, in any bar in Nashville, the world capital of country.
